The Wedding of Karah and Troy

The Wedding of Karah and Troy
Shortarmguy's Diary Update for July 10, 2011

On Friday night, we hopped in the van for a late night road trip down to Iowa.  This weekend we were headed to the farm!

On Saturday morning, Miss Sheri and her mom headed into town to pick up Aunt Mary Ann.  The boys and I stayed back to explore the farm and get some good pictures.  The next morning when Avery mentioned to Grandma that it was fun to climb the auger, she exclaimed "You'd better not be climbing that auger!"  When Avery quickly replied "Well dad told me to do it to take my picture!"  All eyes turned towards me.  I tried to come up with a good excuse, but it seemed to fall flat.  I said "The way I was raised, I always understood that heavy farming machinery was perfectly safe for children to play around."  Needless to say, we probably won't be doing a repeat photo from the auger next summer.

When the boys stumbled across this pile of grain, they became quite excited!!  They started filling their pockets with handfuls of the stuff and screaming "We're rich!"  I guess someone else is paying attention to commodity prices when I'm watching CNBC in the morning!

The boys came up with the bright idea of taking a wagon load of the stuff into town to sell it to the grain elevator.  Their logic being that Grandma has so much of the stuff there's just no way she'd miss a wagon load of it.  They were really starting to make sense, when suddenly Miss Sheri and her mom pulled back up into the driveway it ended our plan.  I'm kind of glad it didn't happen.  Filling a wagon load of grain sounds like a heck of a lot of work!

So after playing around on the farm all morning, we had the honor of attending the wedding of Miss Sheri's cousin, Troy Timmerman, and his lovely bride, Karah Gailey.  The highlight of the ceremony for me was when the minister asked Karah to say "I do" for a second time for some reason and when she did, she said it with such excitement and glee that it put a huge smile on every face in the church!  For the rest of the day I was singing "I DOOOOOO!"

We don't get to see this side of Miss Sheri's family very often, so we were very happy to have the chance to spend this joyous occasion with them!!

It was also great to see Grandma Leona and Aunt Mary Ann!  Even if Grandma Leona was still a little annoyed with me for letting my boys play with her dangerous farm equipment and also for trying to sell some of her excess grain.  We promise we'll do better on our next visit, Grandma!

After the wedding, Miss Sheri let the boys take her for a ride on Uncle Jerry's 4 Wheeler.

I would have let them give me a ride also, but they declined.  They say I make them drive way too slow!
