Storm Drain Overflow

Ol' Faithful: Hydraulic Engineering At Its Worst

This is in Southern Minneapolis, MN on Interstate Highway I-35W and 38th street bridge.

Beware when it's raining!

Several storm drains converge at this point - engineering oops...

Local residents say it is like Ol' Faithful when it rains.

Notice where the 875 lb. cover lands.  The time on the video (approx every 2-3 mins).

They have since bolted the lid in place - it has broken the bolts several times since.

This is quite spectacular; you will want to watch this several times.
