Last Boat Ride of 2011
Shortarmguy's Diary Update for October 16, 2011
I'm excited that Luke and Avery have joined the Prior Lake Robotics Club this year. They had their first team meeting on Thursday night and started hammering out the design of the robot they're going to build to compete in a tournament in December. It's pretty intimidating to attempt to build and program a robot from scratch, but luckily we're on a team with some experienced members. I'm really excited to watch what they create. I'm hoping we can eventually use it to take over the world!
On Friday night, we were excited to see Grandma Joyce and Sunshine arrive for their weekend visit.
Well, most of us were excited to see them. Sunny wasn't too thrilled about it. Sunshine is an Old English Sheepdog and for some reason, she thinks Sunny is a sheep. She tries to Herd him all over the house and backyard. She nips at his neck to make him fall in line. Sunny is a good sport, but you can tell it stresses him out. Avery did a good job of consoling him, but Sunny just knew he was in for a long weekend.
On Friday night, we went to the Outback to enjoy their new Woodfire menu. Nothing like a good, cheap steak to kick off the weekend!
On Saturday, we went to the Apple Orchard to ride around on the wagon. We find it to be a very fun experience.
The Minnesota Harvest orchard provides tractor drawn wagon rides to people so they can go out into the Orchard to pick apples. It encourages them to buy big bags of apples. We don't get off at any of the stops, though. We're not really into picking apples, but we do enjoy free wagon rides!
I've always been told there's a horse's ass in my family, but I guess this picture proves it!
On Saturday night, we took the boys to the Imax theater to see the movie Real Steel. We figured it might be an interesting way to get them excited about robotics club. We were all very pleased at what a good movie it was!! The best boxing movie I've seen since Rocky III. Even without Mr. T in it!
Grandma Joyce was with us for the first boat ride of the season, so we thought it would be fitting to take her out on our last boat ride of 2011. It was dang cold, though, so we didn't stay out there for long. Boat rides just aren't meant to be fun in Minnesota in October.
