The First Snow of 2010

Shortarmguy Diary for November 14, 2010

Sunny hates Daylight Savings Time!!  He doesn't understand why we still do this archaic practice in this day and age!  His main problem with it is now that it's dark outside when dad gets home from work, it's really hard to find his thrown tennis balls with nothing but some faint moonlight to guide him.  He'd like to register a complaint with someone but doesn't know if he'll be taken seriously because he's a dog.  It's such a dilemma for him.

On Friday night, our good friends, Karl and Tina Zitzewitz, came over for dinner.  We decided to try switching up our seating arrangements because dinners past have turned pretty violent when spouses were forced to be seated next to one another.  This arrangement proved to be pretty effective and hardly any food was tossed at one another during the entire meal!

The kids were pretty excited to have the chance to compete with one another on our new XBOX 360 Kinect.  We all took turns "Being the Controller".  It was quite a bit of fun!  After awhile we also took turns "Being the AC Adapter" but it wasn't nearly as exciting.

The best part about the Kinect is that you look so Natural while playing!

Karl thought it was great until he chopped off one of his fingers in our Ceiling Fan.

Miss Sheri and Tina refused to play the game, but then decided to dance to the Village People's YMCA a short time later.  Tina had the Y down pretty good, but I have no idea what letter Miss Sheri was making.

On Saturday morning, we woke up to a snow storm that would eventually lead to 10 inches of snow on the ground!  We gotta move out of Minnesota.  We keep forgetting that this crap happens every year!

During big snow storms, Miss Sheri loves to go outside and work on projects she's been neglecting like fixing our fence.  Actually, what happened was Avery accidentally broke the fence the night before and she told him we'd fix it the next day when it was light outside.  Little did we know, there'd be snow all over the ground and it's really hard to find a white picket board when Avery doesn't exactly remember where he set it!  So it was time to improvise and create a new picket out of a couple of old broken ones!

We also remembered some of the disadvantages of Satellite Television.  It's damn hard to get a signal when the receiver is covered with 5 inches of thick, slushy iceballs!

On Saturday night, we were supposed to go out for dinner with some friends, but that was re-scheduled due to the weather.  So instead we went to the movies.  The boys saw Megamind and we went to The Social Network.  I'm going to give it One Big Thumb up, even if it didn't quite meet the huge expectations I had going into it.  I'd read so many good things about it yet it was slower paced and a bit more anti-climatic than I was expecting.  However, it was a great story about the birth of Facebook and did leave me salivating to have the life of Mark Zuckerburg.  Or at least his billions of dollars!
