Grandma Leona's Birthday on the Farm

Grandma Leona's Birthday on the Farm

Shortarmguy's Diary Entry for March 13, 2011

We started the week off with a visit to the farm.   Sunny loves going to the farm because there's so many open fields where he can just run and run!  So does Avery for pretty much the same reason.

The reason for our trip was to celebrate Grandma Leona's birthday with her.  Before we left, she told me expressly not to tell anyone how old she turned on my website.  I've never seen anyone in my life so paranoid about turning 50!!  Whoops!

There were some new creatures to enjoy on the farm that didn't used to be there.  Of course, Luke and Avery were all over us to be able to bring some bunnies home.  We ended up telling them that rabbits were very rare and it was very challenging to get them to reproduce.  Therefore the odds of them getting one was slim.  They seemed to buy it and now we're just hoping they don't learn anything different in science class!

When we got back to Minnesota, Miss Sheri decided it was time to do something about her hair so she set up an appoinment to go visit our old friend, Katie Ashland.  When she invited me to go with, I happily obliged because attending my wife's hair appointments is one of my greatest joys in life.  Katie and I hadn't seen each other in about a year, so of course we had to dish for a couple of hours and reveal our deepest, darkest secrets to one another.  Now I probably won't get to see her for another year.  I don't know how I'll be able to survive that long without having the chance to overshare with someone.

On Thursday night, we went to another of the boy's band concerts.  This time it was in conjunction with the middle school honors band and one of the bands from the high school.  When combined with the massive 6th grade band, they were lucky to be able to fit anyone into the audience to hear them play!

Avery still gets all horned up to play in the band.

While Luke barely shows any emotion at all while playing the Marimba.

On Friday night, I joined the masses and waited in line to get my hands on the ipad 2.  Considering I'm a guy that makes his living primarily by selling products based on the Microsoft operating system, it's a little bit scary how cool this thing is.  But it is.  So I just had to have one!

On Saturday, we all went to see the highly anticipated movie, Battle: Los Angeles.  Although it was a bit weak on story and character development, I'm still giving it one Big Thumb Up just for the sheer adrenaline rush it created in all of us.  I saw a description on the internet that compared it to a mashup of the movies District 9 and Saving Private Ryan.  I'd say that's a pretty good summary of it.
