Sea Life Aquarium at Mall of America

Sea Life Aquarium at Mall of America

Shortarmguy's Diary Update for May 1, 2011

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of an old co-worker, Mark Donovan, stopping by to see me at Nor-Tech.  Mark is a great guy, but he had a reputation for falling asleep at his desk while he was working.

It was great to see that Markilepsy is alive and well!

On Saturday, we went to the Mall of America for the first time seeing the new UnderWater World now called Sea Life Aquarium.

The first thing you see when you walk in the place is a brand new tank holding sting rays and some kind of flounder sharks.  The walls are a lot higher now so it's much harder to fall head first into the tank than it used to be.

We spent a lot of time at this tank, because the rest of the Sea Life Aquarium was pretty much like it used to be when it was called UnderWater Adventures.  Still cool, but not new cool!

The tank also features this dock which we enjoyed.  We're hoping that some day they'll host diving contests from it.  That would be fun to watch!

The ray tank isn't the only new attraction, though.  They have a brand new eel tank as well.  Avery figured out a great new technique for eel fishing that we can use the next time we make it to the ocean.

The old jelly fish are still there and are as pretty as ever.  I always get the temptation to dip my face in there and go bobbing for jelly fish.  I really need to figure out how to get permission to do that some time.
