The Last Boat Ride of 2010

On Saturday morning, we joined the Boy Scouts to help the Lions, girl scouts, and cub scouts for the annual Prior Lake Food Drive.  Every year we collect about 3500 pounds of food to help hungry families.  We've always helped in the past when we were Cub Scouts by collecting food at people's houses.  This year, we were with the Big Boys and got to work at the truck collecting and loading boxes.  It made us feel pretty manly.

The boys started off the day on the truck moving boxes.  They quickly realized that it was a lot of hard work, so they jumped off and started sorting the grocery bags instead.  They're chips off the old block!

No use crying over spilled spaghetti!

Miss Sheri decided to skip out on helping the hungry people so she could stay home and play with her brand new leaf bagging system we bought for her tractor.  She's so happy to have it!!!  In the past she'd rake something like 50 garbage bags full of leaves and haul them to the dump!!  Finally last year she got so fed up with all the hard work, that she gave me an ultimatum.  I either needed to buy her a new bagger or get out there and help her rake.  Like that wasn't an easy decision....

Saturday was an unseasonably warm day for Minnesota in October.  We reached temperatures in the eighties!!   We felt that we better be sure to take our last boat ride of 2010 because we probably weren't going to have another opportunity as good as this one!

We were joined by our good friends, the Zitzewitz Family.  Shortly after this photo was taken, little Anna reached her head forward silently and proceeded to swallow the entire camera in a single gulp.  Luckily for us, we had a spare.

We always enjoy it when the boys have friends over to spend time with them.  For some reason, the presence of another person causes them to lose the strong desire to create physical pain for each other.  Well, at least for a little while anyways.

We weren't the only ones taking advantage of the nice weather.  We saw this cool lady paddle boarding with her dog.  I wanted to get closer to get her picture, but Miss Sheri told me not to for fear I'd create waves that would swamp her and her little dog too.  It was so warm outside, though, that I'm sure she wouldn't have minded.

MMMMMMMMM!  OREO Double Double Stufs!
